Travel with us through time

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

This blog was a long time dream of mine. I was just about to launch when COVID19 hit. Some timing, huh?

However, we have little to complain about, given what so many of our friends and neighbors have lost during the pandemic. We are grateful for our health, our home and our work.

Now we are beginning to travel again.

We’ve done some close-to-home explorations in the kinds of isolated settings that remain advisable for people at higher risk from COVID. And we just returned from our first overseas adventure in two years – a cruise along the Seine River where we visited the newly-reopened Eiffel Tower, said a prayer as the restoration of the Cathedral of Notre Dame continued, hiked up to the ruins of a castle built by Richard the Lionheart and paid our respects on the Normandy beaches where so many young men gave their lives for the freedoms that we are blessed with today.

I’m Ann Redd, a career journalist with an interest in history and a background in religion. My husband Rea Andrew Redd, is a university librarian who also teaches American history. We enjoy traveling the nation and the world – sometimes in short day trips from our home in Pennsylvania and sometimes by plane or ship in far distant lands.

We’ll be sharing some of that with you, along with reviews of travel gadgets, language courses, tips for cooking-while-traveling and COVID-conscious activities. We are timeshare owners who get a lot of mileage and enjoyment out of our points. We also relish river cruising.

If the highlights of your vacations are the casinos and outlet malls, we wish you bon voyage, but this may not be the blog you’re looking for. If you enjoy castles, cathedrals, historic landscapes, living history and following in the footsteps of heroes and heroines, please come along for our voyages.
